Bluefront Equity was established in 2020 and is headquartered in Oslo. The fund is the only independent private equity fund in the Nordic region focusing exclusively on the seafood industry. Their first fund, Bluefront Capital I, invests in small and medium-sized seafood companies offering sustainable solutions within digitalization and automation, hygiene systems, quality, traceability, and ocean and fish welfare, as well as innovative production methods such as land-based aquaculture, new offshore farming methods, and traditional aquaculture in new growth markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fund has a global mandate but will primarily invest in European and, more specifically, Norwegian companies. Bluefront’s vision is to have a positive impact on the future ocean economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disease, parasites, and injuries to farmed fish, the import of soy from deforestation-prone areas for fish feed, and the genetic impact on wild salmon populations in Norway are just some of the sustainability challenges facing today’s seafood industry. We need technologies, products, and services that solve these challenges and contribute to more sustainable aquaculture and reduced greenhouse gas emissions within the industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the world needs proteins with a lower environmental and climate footprint. Seafood is a climate-friendly protein source that is essential to meet the world’s food needs. Sustainable aquaculture is therefore also crucial for feeding a steadily growing population. By investing in companies that offer solutions to these challenges, Bluefront contributes to reduced greenhouse gas emissions both directly and indirectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
