Investing in sustainable urban development<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2150 invests in startups with innovative technologies that help make cities more efficient and more climate-friendly. This includes everything from new building materials, automation and sensor technology, to smart energy solutions, micromobility, and other critical infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fund, which originates from the leading real estate player NREP, made its first investment in CarbonCure in 2021. The company aims to reduce 500 million tons of CO2 annually from concrete production. Through its investments, 2150 is expected to contribute to solving climate challenges in the construction and real estate sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cities account for the majority of global greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world’s cities play a crucial role in the climate change we now face. According to the UN, urban environments are responsible for approximately 75% of global CO2 emissions, and cities consume over two-thirds of the world’s energy. Buildings and real estate alone account for nearly 40% of these emissions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking to the smart city environment in Norway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2150 invests globally with a focus on Europe, and has included Norway as one of its strategic priority areas due to the large number of relevant sustainability companies located here. Norway is establishing a strong position in smart urban development and climate technology, and the fund has engaged advisors in Norway and the Nordic region with solutions that urban planners, developers, and local authorities can implement. <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n
