2150

2150 is a venture fund that invests in technology companies that accelerate sustainable development in construction, real estate, and urban development.

Investing in sustainable urban development
2150 invests in start-up companies with innovative technologies that help make cities more efficient and more climate-friendly. This includes everything from new building materials, automation, and sensor technology, to smart energy solutions, micro mobility, and other critical infrastructure.
The fund, which originates from the leading real estate company NREP, made its first investment in CarbonCure in 2021. The company will reduce 500 million tonnes of CO2 annually from concrete production. Through its investments, it is expected that 2150 will contribute to solving climate challenges in the construction and real estate sector.

Cities make up the majority of the world’s CO2 emissions
The cities of the world play a crucial role in the climate change we are now facing. According to the UN, urban environments are responsible for about 75% of global CO2 emissions, and cities consume over two-thirds of the world’s energy. Construction and real estate alone account for nearly 40% of these emissions.
The enormous climate footprint is mainly due to inefficient urban planning and infrastructure, as well as the fact that most buildings still use fossil fuels to cover their energy needs. By finding new ways to plan, build, manage, and operate the cities of the world, we can achieve enormous greenhouse gas cuts.

Looking to the smart city environment in Norway
The fund invests globally with a main emphasis on Europe, and has chosen Norway as a strategic investment area, due to the Norwegian prop-tech environment’s leading position in the Nordic region. 2150 has partnered with Norwegian and Nordic advisers who will help search for companies with solutions that city planners, property developers and local authorities can use.

Norway is in the process of establishing a strong position in smart urban development and climate technology. Through investing in 2150, Nysnø contributes to increased access to growth capital for Norwegian technology companies operating in a sector that will be important for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
