HIPtec
HIPtec is a Norwegian technology company that produces advanced metal components with reduced energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Robust metal components with a low climate footprint
The company’s innovative production technology makes it possible to use up to 70% less materials in the production of complex metal components.
With HIPtec’s new industrial production method it is possible to produce just as strong metal parts, but with lower weight and reduced costs. The method can be used on a wide variety of metals and alloys, including stainless steel, copper, bronze, aluminides, precious metals, as well as many combinations of materials.
HIPtec is part of the Scatec system – a leading Norwegian player in renewable energy and advanced materials with expertise in innovation and industrialization.
HIPtec and their products address a global market, and the company has industry-leading customers in the maritime sector, oil and gas, power production and medical equipment in both Norway and the rest of the world on their client list.
A need for more environmentally friendly solutions
The demand for advanced metal components is increasing. More and more customers are demanding sustainable solutions and the components must therefore be lighter and stronger – at the same time as they are produced in a cost-effective way with a low CO2 footprint.
Unique production method
Traditional methods for manufacturing metal components often require high energy consumption. HIPtec has developed an innovative production technology that reduces energy consumption and emissions. A core element of HIPtec’s production technology is the use of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP). HIP combines high pressure with high temperature to join metals into complex components. Compared with traditional production methods, costs are lower – and material consumption, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced.
Following the establishment of the first production line, HIPtec plans to scale further to a capacity of over 600 tonnes of quality components.
