Vårgrønn
Vårgrønn is a Norwegian growth company driving the energy transition through the development, construction, operation, and ownership of offshore wind projects.
Norwegian offshore wind company with international ambitions
Vårgrønn is a joint venture established by HitecVision and Eni in 2020, with ambitions to establish as an international offshore wind player. The company will have a particular focus on floating offshore wind and will be a driver for technology development and commercialisation of the offshore wind industry.
Together with its partners, Vårgrønn has already established a strong position in the Norwegian and Northern European offshore wind industry. The company has joined forces with Equinor to develop floating offshore wind in the Utsira Nord area. Vårgrønn has also acquired a 20 percent ownership in Dogger Bank, which will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm when it is in full production in 2026.
Offshore wind is crucial for the energy transition
The development of offshore wind will play a crucial role in the energy transition and the road to a net zero-emission society. Strong global growth in installed offshore wind capacity is expected, and Vårgrønn’s ambition is to install 5GW capacity by 2030. This corresponds to electricity supply to 1.2 million Norwegian households.
With decades of experience from the oil and gas industry, Norway has a unique opportunity to build a new export industry within renewable energy. Nysnø has invested in Vårgrønn together with HitecVision’s newly established renewable energy fund New Energy Fund. The fund will invest in renewable energy production, green energy infrastructure and decarbonisation.
