Morrow Batteries

Norway’s first commercial battery factory

Morrow plans to build a battery factory in Arendal, scheduled to start production in 2023 and be fully operational by 2028. This will be the first commercial battery production facility in Norway. The factory will produce some of the world’s most sustainable batteries, manufactured using renewable energy, and will have an annual production capacity of 43 GWh when fully operational in 2028. Morrow is expected to create over 2,500 jobs within the company and its supply chain.

Batteries crucial for achieving climate goals

To achieve global climate goals, we must electrify the transport sector. According to the National Transport Plan 2022-2033, emissions from the transport sector are to be halved by 2030 compared to 2005, with the aim that all new passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and city buses will be zero-emission vehicles by 2025. Batteries play a crucial role in this electrification, and strong growth is expected in the battery market with enormous export potential.
