Sustainable food systems for a sustainable future
Astanor Ventures is a leading European venture investor in food, ocean, and agriculture. Their Good Harvest Ventures I fund is the largest of its kind in Europe and invests in technology-driven companies that contribute to a sustainable food system.
The fund was established in 2018. Through its Good Harvest Ventures I fund, Astanor invests in technology-driven early-stage companies with solutions for new sustainable food production, alternative protein sources, and the reduction of food waste.
Astanor invests globally with a primary focus on Europe, and has chosen Norway as a strategic area of focus, including for aquaculture. The fund’s purpose is to create a nutritious, regenerative, and scalable food system.
Team of experts
Astanor places great emphasis on potential investment targets’ contribution to solving environmental challenges within the world’s food systems, and a positive contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals is a crucial criterion when the fund evaluates which companies to invest in.
To find the best technologies, Astanor collaborates with an international team of investment partners and advisors consisting of industry leaders and experts from sectors such as food, agriculture, biotechnology, big data, and AI. One of these advisors is the Norwegian chef Christopher Haatuft, who seeks out promising investment opportunities as part of the fund’s decision to focus on Norway as a strategic area of investment.
Norway is already advanced in several areas, especially within aquaculture. Astanor’s presence in Norway can help strengthen this position, while also providing Norwegian companies with access to growth capital, valuable networks, and the opportunity to expand internationally.
