Greenhouse gas reduction from maritime transport
Metizoft delivers software and services that ensure over 300 customers and 3,500 vessels meet the requirements for sustainable and responsible operations.
The company, headquartered in Herøy in Sunnmøre, has an established position in software and solutions for the maritime industry and works continuously on product development that responds to customer needs in sustainability. Metizoft is experiencing an increased demand for greenhouse gas reduction solutions, as a result of new regulations and requirements from the UN’s maritime organization and the EU.
Growing global demand
Maritime transport accounts for 3% of global emissions and 14% of the EU’s total transport emissions. The UN’s maritime organization (IMO) recently adopted an ambition of zero emissions from international shipping by 2050. This sets higher requirements for greenhouse gas reduction measures in the industry globally, and Norway has a unique position to develop new zero-emission solutions.
Metizoft’s life cycle analyses (LCA) provide customers with an overview of CO2 emissions from the construction and operation of vessels and identify measures to reduce emissions throughout the vessel’s life cycle.
