Nysnø invests in Alva Industries to scale Norwegian electric motor technology

Stavanger, 2 July 2026 – Nysnø Climate Investments (Nysnø) is investing in Alva Industries AS (Alva), which develops and manufactures compact, lightweight and high-performance electric motors. The investment is part of a EUR 16 million equity financing round that will support the scaling of production capacity, continued development of the company’s product portfolio, and Alva’s international growth.

Norwegian technology for the next generation of electric motors

Electric motors are a critical component in a wide range of industrial systems, from robotics and medical technology to autonomy, defence and advanced manufacturing equipment. Increasing electrification and automation are creating demand for motors that combine low weight, compact form factor, precise control and high performance.

Alva has developed FiberPrinting™, a patented manufacturing technology for electric motor windings. The technology enables very thin and lightweight frameless motors with high torque density and smooth motion without cogging. This gives customers greater design freedom in compact electric systems where precision, weight and performance are critical.

– Electrification is one of the most important industrial transformations of our time. Alva’s motors have the potential to improve performance across a wide range of electric systems, and the company is building industrial technology from Norway with global relevance. We are impressed by the team’s ambition, execution capabilities and ability to develop world-leading electric motor technology, says Simen Malmin, Senior Project Manager at Nysnø Climate Investments.

Strong industrial interest and international investor group

Alva was founded in Trondheim in 2017 and has in recent years developed from a technology company into a commercial supplier of motors for demanding industrial customers. The company is experiencing increasing demand for compact and precise motor solutions, particularly within robotics, optronics, aerospace, medical technology, semiconductor equipment and defence-related applications.

The investment round is led by Nysnø, Sandwater and Emerald Technology Ventures, on behalf of Nabtesco Technology Ventures. Existing investors, including Statkraft Ventures and EnvisionTech, are also participating. Samsung Ventures’ investment from December 2025 is converted into shares as part of the financing.

The funding will be used to expand manufacturing capacity in Norway, continue developing Alva’s product portfolio and strengthen the company’s international commercial presence. Alva currently has a broad customer pipeline across both commercial and defence-related markets and has established dialogue with leading OEMs across several target segments.

– Alva is on a mission to power a new generation of machines that are stronger, lighter, safer, and more reliable. This investment gives us the capacity to accelerate our technology roadmap, expand production, and strengthen our position as a global supplier of high-performance electric motors. We experience strong demand from customers pushing the limits of what compact electric actuation systems can deliver, says Oliver Skisland, CEO of Alva Industries.
